Cookies and Cream High Protein Shake

Cookies and Cream High Protein Shake

I am so confused being off on a Friday night! I've worked weekends for 20 yrs, so it's really strange when I have a weekend off.

I have been working really hard at my nutrition this week and since almost everyone is gone tonight I really thought about cheating and having something naughty to eat.

No, I didn't do it! I made this healthy Cookies and Cream shake instead and before you say anything I know chocolate graham crackers may not be the healthiest thing for you, but they're much lower in calories then real Oreos. You got to make some compromises somewhere, right?

It's these small compromises that I made that helped me to stay consistent with my weight loss plan that lead to my 150 lb weight loss. If I hadn't allowed myself to have some treats or some screw ups from time to time then I would have called it quites just like I had a hundred times before and once again I wouldn't have reached my goal.

But this time I had made my mind up that NO MATTER WHAT I was going to stick to my plan! A compromise is not a failure, it is using your mind and inner strength to overcome and obstacle. And sometimes your greatest obstacle is YOU. Your fear of failure. Your own self-doubt. Your negative past events paralyze you and keep you from realizing your goals.

**If you need support and accountability with your weight loss and/or fitness then fill out this application and I'll get back with you ASAP, so we can talk about all the ways I can help you get the results that you deserve! IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN?**

Here's the recipe if you want to give it a try and let me know what you think! #yummy #eatbetter

Love Those killer workouts? But Do you know When To Go Hard and When To Go Home?

WHEN TO CONTINUE TO GO HARD

                             AND

                     WHEN TO GO HOME

Good morning my beautiful people! I am on day 3 of the 21 Day Fix Extreme and I've yet to be able to do a workout. I've had bronchitis for the last 12 days, so I haven't been able to workout, but today I'm feeling better and I think I'm gonna give it a try. If I survive I'll let you know how it
injury, working out, fitness, sports, weight loss, obesity
NEED SUPPORT LET'S TALK
went, if I don't it was nice knowing you, lol.

Part of losing weight and getting fit is knowing when to push your body and when to lay off. You have to ask yourself when the workouts are getting tough and you "feel" like you're going to die "Am I feeling this way because I'm so out of shape and this is something new and challenging for my body?" OR "Is this a legit distress and I need to back off or stop, so I don't get hurt or injured?" You know you and you know if you're just being a weenie and not wanting to push yourself to finish or even start the workout, because "I'm to sore from yesterdays workout". On the same coin you know if you're being stubborn and pushing threw the pain just so you can say you finished.

Peeps, it's important to push yourself to SHOW UP everyday for your workout. And when you show up you give it all you got and leave it all on the workout floor. It's okay to modify the moves if you can't do them, just try to keep in time with the class and do a move that works the same body part/muscle group as the move you are modifying. But it is not alright to half ass it because "it's just to hard", NO ONE told you this was going to be easy. WORKING OUT, LOSING WEIGHT, GETTING FIT IS HARD. BEING OVER WEIGHT & MORBIDLY OBESE IS HARD. PICK YOUR HARD!

But don't be stubborn and keep pushing yourself when you know the pain you are feel is not a normal pain. You've been hauling that extra weight around for sometime now, so you know your aches and pains and the ones that come with activity and when there is a different pain DO NOT IGNORE IT! You can do permanent damage where you might not every be able to workout again or even walk. It all depends on where or what type of pain we are talking about here are just a few examples:

  • Chest Pain-Discomfort in the chest including a dull ache, a crushing or burning feeling, a sharp stabbing pain, and pain that radiates to the neck or shoulder. (Yes, it can be from heavy lifting and weight lifting, but it can be the signs of an Heart attack too!) For the SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF A HEART ATTACK  CLICK HERE.
  • Knee Pain-Pain in or around the knee that may indicate a condition affecting the knee joint itself or the soft tissue around the knee. (causes that are due to underlying disease:heavy physical activity, lack of use, injuries such as sprains or strains.) For more on knee pain and treatments click HERE.

  • Shortness of Air or Difficulty Breathing- It's kind of self explanatory(causes that aren't due to underlying disease:exercise, tight clothing, a sedentary lifestyle).

Want to Know How To Make Your Fitness Your Business?

I have to start off by saying that I absolutely love being a nurse and the day I graduated nursing school was one of the happiest days of my life. I had wanted to be a nurse for as long as I could remember, so it was a dream come true for me. What I love about nursing is helping others and a nurse does that in many ways; we give them medication, monitor their condition and alert the md when there are problems, we take care of their emotional needs, and we support their families as well. Being there for the patient and their family emotionally and helping them to find resources to lighten their burden is my heart and soul, but management makes that harder and harder to do everyday.

My nursing pay check has supported my family for 19 years now. When my youngest son was born he had asthma and couldn't go to daycare and I made more money than my husband, so the decision was made for him to stay home with the kids ( 4 boys) and me to work. He did go back to work when Seth was older, but he does heating and cooling for a living and it is not a reliable income. I worked 12 hour nightshifts on the weekends, so I could take the kids to school during the week.

Now the children are grown and I find myself at a new chapter in my life. I have FREE TIME! No running the kids to 4 different schools. No after school activities-practices, ball games,etc... No "Can you take me to my friends house." All these things use to drive me crazy and now I kinda miss them. Anyone else have that problem? Anyway no more running, so now what? I'm frustrated with work, I love being a Beachbody Coach and helping others find their path to a healthy life, and I've been trying to find a way to get more involve with my faith, so...

I've done a lot of praying and I've known for a while now that my path now lies with coaching, but I haven't been brave enough to take that leap and build my team into a full-time career. What would people think? Would I lose my identity if I didn't work as a nurse? I realize now that my ministry is through coaching. God brought me through my addiction to food and blessed me with a 175 lb weight loss. I know now that all those years I suffered with obesity I was being forged into a weapon for His glory, so I could fight to bring his people back to the fold. Have you ever felt confused as to why God would make you go through so much crap?

If you're at a crossroads in your life-empty nest syndrome, fed up with a job that holds you down, just looking for something more, something to help you get closer to your faith, then let me suggest that you check out Beachbody Coaching.

How Your Mindset Can Help You Succeed

Little achievements build to bigger and bigger accomplishments.

shakeology, fitness, hypothyroidism, 21 day fix, 22 Minute hard corps, wellness
It starts with a shake!
Shakeology the healthiest meal of the day!

Have you ever heard of the ripple effect? Basically, it refers to the fact that the tiniest drop of water can cause a pool to spread rippling first to  touch the rocks near by then moving to the roots of the trees along the banks then up on to the banks themselves. This same analogy can be applied to our weight loss efforts and if we use it to help us change our mindsets then we'll be that much closer to achieving our goals.

The problem is with most of us, myself included, is we focus on how much weight we have to lose (the bank line) and obsess over the number on the scale and we allow our confidence to go up and down with those numbers. We develop an "I can't" attitude and decide that we need to be motivated by outside forces, so we only give 100% when someone is watching us. We eat our salads and drink our diet soft drinks when we're with others, but at home we pigout (binge), as if no one else will know, right?

I come from a very competitive family and I use to think the only place I could workout was at the gym by attending the different fitness classes, because I needed the competitive aspect of the classes. Mentally I would pick someone in the class and try to keep up with them and then eventually beat them with how hard I was working out. But when I gained weight and reached 352 lbs I was embarrassed to go to the gym, because I felt like people were looking at me all the time, so I started working out at home using Beachbody dvds.

Turbofire, Shakeology, obesity, weight loss, family fitness
At any age you can be in the best shape of your life.
At first I thought there is no way this is going to work because if no one is looking then I'm going to cheat and half-ass the workout. But then I loved the workout(Turbofire was the first and I lost 75 lbs with it) and the challenge it gave me, so I didn't want to cheat. I wanted to give it my all, so I flipped my mindset from "I can't" to "I can" and the power of an "I can" mentality is amazing! I wanted to give it my best even when no one was looking!  Each day I got a little bit better with my moves (a small ripple), I could kick a little higher (bigger ripple), keep up with the routine better (ripple), I wasn't as short of air (ripple), and finally one day I could do a freakin' BURPEE!!! (Reached the Banks!!)

Did the numbers go down on the scale everyday, nope (btw you shouldn't weigh yourself everyday there are to many factors that cause it to change in that short period of time. Once a week at the most.), but EVERYDAY I had a small victory which gave me a boost of confidence.

And that confidence lead to me being able to turn down the doughnuts that the people at work bring in every freakin day- I just showed will power=more confidence. I think I'll train for a 5K, but I've never been able to run before...RAN a 5K=more confidence, until one day I reached my goal weight. Now what? How about being a coach and helping others to lose weight so they can live a healthy, active life too? I'm not a fitness expert, nutritionist, or instructor can I be a coach? HELL YEAH!!!

The point is you need to have a positive "I CAN" attitude and give your all everyday even when no one is looking and that makes each of those small daily victories even better and their affects will ripple out and lead to your ultimate goal and the life that you want to live-healthy, fit, and active.

The struggle to find your path to a healthy life is real and I know because I've been there and I know I can help you get connect with the program that will help you reach your fitness and health goals. My 5 Top Tips to Help You Lose Weight Over 50 With the 21 Day Fix

What's the difference between turning fifty and hitting a brick wall?
Not one dang thing! Both of them bring you to a screeching halt, one with your physical movement and the other with your weight loss efforts.

So, you finally think you got this diet and exercise thing figured out and your on track with your weight loss goals then another year goes by and here comes age 50. Yep, the big 5-0, the number everyone has warned you about, because your metabolism dies at 50-blah, blah, blah. But that's just a bunch of bologna, right? Ahhh, maybe not so much???

I turned 50 this past January and I have really been struggling to get these last 30 lbs off. Now whether it's because I'm depressed that I turned 50, or the fact that it's winter and we're in the house more, or maybe the urban legends are true, your metabolism does die at 50 I don't know for sure. All I do know is that I've had to make some changes in order to get my body back to shedding the pounds.

Here are some tips that have helped me to start losing weight again and get back on track with my fitness goals.

*Cut calories, NOT volume. One of the biggest mistakes we make when we start dieting is we cut our food intake down really low almost to the point of starvation. Initially we will lose weight, but eventually our bodies realize we are starving and we stop losing, because our bodies start to store everything they have in order to save themselves.

Not only are we physically starving, but we feel hungry and starving all the time, which makes us very unpleasant to be around. Programs like the 21 Day Fix and Portion Fix teaches you portion control (calorie cutting is built in you don't have to worry about it) and it is very important for you to use your meal planner and calculate which meal plan you fall under, so you get the proper amount of calories each day.

If you find that you are still hungry and you've eaten all your calories for the day then you need to try next time to eat foods that are low in calories but big on volume. Foods like popcorn and celery, use a sliced red bell pepper with your hummus instead of 8 crackers, or have a cup of puffed brown-rice cereal in place of 1/4 cup of granola.

*Remember how your momma use to tell you to stop fidgeting? Well, now I'm telling you to fidget. Fidgeting, termed NEAT (Nonexercise Activity Thermogenesis) have been shown to help torch an extra 300 to 2,000 calories per day.

Shakeology health fitness family hypothyroidism plus size
Replace just 1 meal a day to lose weight or
drink 1 glass a day to get your daily
dose of dense nutrition.
*Drink/eat foods that are high in protein. Shakeology has been a lifesaver for me literally. I absolutely hate vegetables, which has been my downfall with every diet that I've ever gone on, but with Shakeology I know I'm getting my daily dose of dense nutrition, so even if I'm not perfect the rest of the day I know I got at least one good meal in for the day. Shakeology  is high in protein & fiber, so it helps me to stay full longer and it maintains my blood glucose at an even level so I don't get those crazy highs and lows which comes with crashing blood sugars.

*Squeeze some lemon in it! Add fresh lemon juice to your tea or water-it's loaded with vitamin C. Arizona State University researchers found that exercisers who don't get enough C may zap 25 percent fewer calories during a workout. (For more on the benefits of lemon juice check  4 Reasons to Drink Lemon Juice Everyday).

foodie clean eating fitness busy mom's coaching home business

*Drink more water-A German study discovered that downing two 8-ounce glasses of water improved calorie burning by 30 percent in as little as 10 minutes, and the effect lasted for more than an hour.

Are you struggling to lose weight? Does it seem like no matter what you do you just can't find the time to eat right or workout? Do you feel all alone like no one around you understands your food issues? If you answered "yes" to any or all of this questions then send me a message to more info and let's talk about all the ways that I can help you get connected with a program that will fit your lifestyle, so you can get the success you're looking for starting today!!! Don't worry you won't have to do it alone I will be there to support, encourage, and see you through to the end ;)

At any age you can be in the best shape of your life. What are you waiting for?

Love Yourself Skinny (Well Thinner...)

Own the Road! Just what the shirt says it is time to do, if you haven't already done it. Take control of your life and own every wrinkle, every scar, every stretch mark that you've got. Wear them as badges of honor, because you've earned them baby! You've been determined, fearless, strong, relentless, faithful and you've persevered!

We're taught at a young age to look at ourselves with critical, judgmental eyes and to frown upon every little imperfection. There are creams, make-up, clothing, to cover up things that we see as unsightly and if they are bad enough there are even surgeries to get rid of them once and for all. It has taken me fifty years to realize that I need to love who I am, if I am to ever help anyone else. That is not to say that I won't or shouldn't continue to work on improving my self, my health, my fitness, but my imperfections no longer define me and they will no longer keep me from living the life that I want to live.

Part of the reason I started working out at home was because I was embarrassed to workout at the gym. When I weighed 352 lbs I felt like everyone was looking at me and judging me, then when I lost 175 lbs I still didn't feel comfortable because I would look around and think, "damn it I lost 175 lbs and I'm still the fattest person in here!" So, then I would get depressed and we all know what we do when we're depressed-EAT!

It was becoming a vicious cycle that I had to stop and working out at home helped me to break that trend. Working out at home also allowed me to get into a solid routine and once working out becomes a habit it is something you can't do without, you actually crave it just like you use to crave the junk food. A good workout gives you energy, clears your mind, helps you focus, keeps your muscles, joints flexible and mobile. Not to mention the cardiovascular and physical strength you get from working out. Plus, working out has many mental health benefits too, check out my post on 10 Reasons Working Out is Good for Your Mental Health .

And last but certainly not least with the purchase of a "Challenge pack" I got a free coach. Have you ever worked with a coach before? I had coaches when I played sports as a kid, but never one who focused totally on me. Having someone to cheer you on, inspire you, support you, and encourage you makes all the difference in the world when it comes to getting the results that you're wanting.

My weight loss has changed my world and improved my quality of life beyond what I could have ever imaged and I want others who suffer from obesity to know that there is HOPE. So, now I'm a coach and as a coach I use my personal experience to help you get started, stay motivated, and get RESULTS! If you're struggling to lose weight, get fit, or just plain get healthy then send me a message and let me tell you all the ways that I can help you get connected with a program that will get you the results that you want. At any age you can be in the best shape of your life. What are you waiting for?! MORE INFO .

22 Minute Hard Corps Day 1 Review!

healthy hypothyroidism over fifty weight loss

Let me just start by saying I never said I was smart, okay. I called in sick to work last night, because I was up chucking-TMI? Anyway several people at work and my husband have had similar symptoms and I took care of a patient with the flu the night before so I thought, "Great now I've got the flu!" But when I got up this morning I felt awesome, and since I'm like a little kid when it comes to new Beachbody workout programs, I decided I just couldn't wait until Monday, which is when my new Challenge group starts, to begin my 22 Minute Hard Corps program. (To join my next challenge group fill out the Challenge Group Application and I'll get back with you ASAP with the deets.)
